INTRODUCTION:

To improve tail gate loading and unloading performance, a new reinforced rear tail gate is now available. When replacing a bent tail gate, use the following repair information.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2005 - 2008 model year Tacoma vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown in this TSB.






PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:

NOTE:
When a tail gate is replaced, all hemming flanges and body panel seams MUST be sealed with body seam sealer prior to painting the door assembly.

1. Remove all components from the old tailgate. Save all parts for installation on the new tail gate.

HINT:
When removing the protector, close the tail gate and use caution NOT to bend the protector. Start by lifting up on the ends and work towards the center.

2. Send tail gate to body shop for painting.

NOTE:
Remove protective layer on anti-theft label located under bottom left of tail gate, after tail gate has been painted.

3. Reassemble the tail gate.
