Introduction

Some 2005 - 2009 model year Tacomas may experience a condition where there is no read out from the digital compass or temperature display in the overhead console. If this condition occurs there is a new service part available. The new service part has the digital display separate from the overhead roof console box assembly. Please refer to the following instructions for the proper installation procedure of the new service part.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.





Parts Information

Repair Procedure

1. Remove the roof console box assembly.

A. Remove the screw under the sunglass holder.

B. Disengage the 2 clips and 3 claws.

C. Disconnect the accessory meter connector and map lamp connector.

2. Remove the digital display.

A. Remove the 3 T1O Torx fasteners holding the digital display into the roof console box assembly.

3. Reinstall the new digital display.

A. Reinstall the 3 T1O Torx fasteners holding the digital display into the roof console box assembly.





4. Reinstall the roof console box assembly (See Figure 1).

A. Connect the accessory meter connector and map lamp connector.

B. Reconnect the 3 claws and 2 clips.

C. Reinstall the single screw behind the sunglass holder.

5. Confirm proper operation of the digital display.

6. Calibrate the compass. Refer to the following Technical Service Bulletins for the initial calibration procedure.
