AUTOMATIC DISCONNECTING DIFFERENTIAL (A.D.D.) SHIFT ACTUATOR INOPERATIVE

APPLICABILITY:
INTRODUCTION:
Some 2003 - 2012 model year 4Runner, 2007 - 2012 model year FJ Cruiser and 2005 - 2012 model year Tacoma vehicles equipped with part-time 4WD may exhibit a flashing 4WD indicator light and inoperative 4WD system. Follow the procedures in the bulletin to address this condition.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Confirm the 4WD system is inoperative and the 4WD light is flashing.
2. Remove the A.D.D actuator assembly.
Refer to the ETAS/TIS library applicable model and model year Repair Manual.
3. Perform A.D.D actuator movement and resistance inspection per the Repair Manual.
Refer to the ETAS/TIS library, applicable model and model year Repair Manual.
Are the A.D.D. actuator movement and resistance inspections correct per the Repair Manual?
^ YES - This bulletin does NOT apply continue diagnosis per the Repair Manual.
^ NO-Go to step 4
4. Replace the A.D.D. actuator.
Refer to the ETAS/TIS library, applicable model and model year Repair Manual.
5. Confirm the repair and 4WD system operation.
