Fuel Delivery and Air Induction: Testing and Inspection

1GR-FE FUEL SYSTEM:

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CHECK FUEL PUMP
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

NOTE: Do not start the engine.

(c) Turn the Techstream ON.
(d) Enter the following menu:
Select: Data List / Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Fuel Pump Speed / ON.
(e) Check the fuel operation by operating it with the Techstream.
If the fuel pump does not operate, replace the fuel pump.
2. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE
(a) Discharge the fuel pressure system (Technician Safety Information).
(b) Using a voltmeter, measure the battery voltage.
Standard:
10 to 14 V
(c) Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
(d) Disengage the fuel pipe clamp (Technician Safety Information).
(e) Disconnect the fuel pipe No. 1.

(f) Install SST and the fuel tube connector onto the vehicle.
SST: 09268-31012
90467-13001
95336-08070
09268-41500
SST: 09268-45014
09268-41200
09268-41220
09268-41250
(g) Wipe off any spilt gasoline.
(h) Connect the cable to the battery negative terminal.
Torque: 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf)
(i) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(j) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

NOTE: Do not start the engine.

(k) Turn the Techstream ON.
(l) Enter the following menu:
Select: Data List / Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Fuel Pump Speed / ON.
(m) Measure the fuel pressure.
Standard:
281 to 287 kPa (2.87 to 2.93 kgf/cm2, 40.8 to 41.7 psi)

- If the fuel pressure is greater than the standard value, replace the fuel pump.

- If the fuel pressure is less than the standard value, check the connection between the fuel hose and fuel pump.

(n) Enter the following menu:
Select: Data List / Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Fuel Pump Speed / OFF.
(o) Check that the fuel pressure does not change for 5 minutes.
Standard:
147 kPa (1.5 kgf/cm2, 21 psi)
If the result is not as specified, check the fuel pump and fuel injector.
(p) Disconnect the Techstream from the DLC3.
(q) Disconnect the cable from the battery negative terminal.
(r) Remove SST and the fuel tube connector while being careful to prevent gasoline splashes.
(s) Connect the fuel tube.
3. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAK

(e) Check that there are no leakage in the fuel system.
