Cylinder Head Assembly: Specifications
CYLINDER HEAD SET BOLTMeasuring point:
Standard outside diameter: 9.810 to 9.960 mm (0.386 to 0.392 in.)
Minimum outside diameter: 9.700 mm (0.382 in.)
CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
Maximum warpage:
CYLINDER HEAD LH
Apply a light coat of engine oil to the threads and under the heads of the cylinder head bolts.
Step 1:
- Set the plate washer to the cylinder head bolt.
- Install and uniformly tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque: 32 Nm (326 kgf-cm, 24 ft-lbf)
If any one of the cylinder head bolts does not meet the torque specification, replace the cylinder head bolt.
HINT: The cylinder head bolts are tightened in 3 progressive steps.
NOTE: Do not drop the plate washer for the cylinder head bolt into portion A of the cylinder head. If dropped into portion A, the plate washer will pass through the cylinder head and cylinder block into the oil pan.
Step 2:
- Mark the cylinder head bolt head with paint as shown in the illustration.
- Tighten the cylinder head bolts another 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
Step 3:
- Tighten the cylinder head bolts another 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
- Check that the painted marks are now facing rearward.
CAMSHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
Uniformly tighten the 22 bearing cap bolts in several steps, in the sequence shown in the illustration.
For bolt 21, 22 - Torque: 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf)
For other bolt - Torque: 16 Nm (163 kgf-cm, 12 ft-lbf)
CAMSHAFT TIMING PULLEY LH
Using a 5 mm hexagon wrench, tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 8.1 Nm (83 kgf-cm, 72 in-lbf)
CYLINDER HEAD RH
