Removal
2UZ-FE LUBRICATION: OIL PUMP:
REMOVAL
1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE (Removal)
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
- After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and setting. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Repair Instruction - Initialization).
3. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the engine assembly from the vehicle (Removal).
4. REMOVE TIMING BELT
(a) Remove the timing belt (Removal).
5. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT TIMING PULLEY (Removal)
6. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (Removal)
7. INSTALL ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE
(a) Remove the dipstick.
(b) Remove the bolt and dipstick guide.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the dipstick guide.
8. REMOVE OIL FILTER ASSEMBLY (Replacement)
9. REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the oil pressure sender gauge connector.
(b) Disconnect the oil cooler hoses from the oil cooler.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts, nut and oil filter bracket.
10. REMOVE NO. 2 OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 8 bolts and 2 nuts.
(b) Insert the blade of an oil pan seal cutter between the oil pans, cut off applied sealer and remove the No. 2 oil pan.
- Be careful not to damage the No. 2 oil pan contact surface of the oil pan.
- Be careful not to damage the No. 2 oil pan flange.
11. REMOVE NO. 1 OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 19 bolts and 2 nuts.
(b) Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 1 oil pan by prying between the oil pan and cylinder block as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder block and No. 1 oil pan.
12. REMOVE OIL STRAINER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 bolt, 2 nuts, oil strainer and gasket.
13. REMOVE OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 7 bolts and 6 mm hexagon bolt.
(b) Using a screwdriver, remove the oil pump by prying the portions between the oil pump and cylinder block shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder block and oil pump.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the cylinder block.
