Wheel Hub: Testing and Inspection








AXLE: FRONT AXLE HUB:

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
2. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH (Removal)

3. REMOVE FRONT DISC (Removal)

4. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB GREASE CAP LH (for 4WD) (Removal)

5. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS





(a) Using a dial indicator, measure the looseness near the center of the axle hub.
Maximum looseness:
0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

NOTE: Ensure that the dial indicator is set at a right angle to the measurement surface.

If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub.
6. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT





(a) Using a dial indicator, measure the runout on the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
Maximum runout:
0.03 mm (0.00118 in.)

NOTE: Ensure that the dial indicator is set at a right angle to the measurement surface.

If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub.
7. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB GREASE CAP LH (for 4WD) (Installation)

8. INSTALL FRONT DISC (Installation)

9. CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH (Installation)

10. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
for Aluminum Wheel - Torque: 131 Nm (1336 kgf-cm, 97 ft-lbf)
for Steel Wheel - Torque: 209 Nm (2131 kgf-cm, 154 ft-lbf)
