Applicability

Introduction

Under certain conditions, the brushed stainless steel step board for 2007 - 2009 model year Tundra vehicles may exhibit rust spots. The following procedure will remove rust spots on the step board which may be caused by the collection of brake dust or road debris. This procedure should only be used if rust spots are present on the step board - step board replacement is not required.

Repair Procedure

1. Clean the metallic section of the brushed stainless steel step board with automotive grade soap and water. Rinse and dry the step board.

2. Using a mild abrasive automotive car wax and a clean cloth towel, place a dab of wax on the towel. Then rub wax into the stainless steel in a fore and aft motion that follows the grain of the step board.

3. Remove residue with a clean cloth towel and inspect the area.

4. If spots have NOT been completely removed, repeat the procedure applying extra pressure on the towel.

5. Inspect the area and repeat if necessary.

HINT:
Be sure to remove any wax residue from plastic step pads and end caps.
