Applicability

Introduction

Some 2007 - 2008 model year Tundra and 2008 model year Land Cruiser and Sequoia vehicles may experience power steering Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0552 and/or P0553. The power steering sensor has been changed to correct this condition. Use the following repair procedure to address customer concerns.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.





Production Change Information

This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.





Required Tools & Equipment

Repair Procedure

1. Using TIS Techstream confirm the condition by checking for DTCs P0552 and/or P0553. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual,

^ 2007 Tundra: Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Control - "2UZ-FE / 3UR-FE Engine Control System: SFI System: P0550: Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction"

^ 2008 Tundra: Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Control - "2UZ-FE / 3UR-FE Engine Control System: SFI System: P0550: Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction"

^ 2008 Land Cruiser: Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Control - "3UR-FE Engine Control System: SFI System: P0550: Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction"

^ 2008 Sequoia: Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Control - "2UZ-FE / 3UR-FE Engine Control System: SFI System: P0550: Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction"





2. Once the condition has been confirmed disconnect the pressure sensor connector and proceed with removing the power steering pressure switch.

NOTE
The power steering sensor is located at the power steering vane pump and is mounted to the high pressure feed line.

3. Install the NEW power steering pressure sensor.

Torque: 20.6 +/- 3.9 N*m (207.4 kg*cm, 15.2 +/-2.8 ft*lbf)

4. Once the power steering pressure sensor has been replaced start the vehicle and check for any leaks from the sensor and the high pressure feed line.

5. Check power steering fluid level and adjust as needed.
