INSTRUMENT PANEL: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. BOLT, SCREW AND NUT TABLE

HINT: The bolts, screws and nuts which are necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.





2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
(a) Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal Service Precautions.
3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE





(a) Remove the instrument panel finish plate.
4. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 bolts.
(b) Disconnect the hood lock control cable assembly and fuel lid lock control cable sub-assembly.
(c) Detach the 4 clips.
(d) Disconnect the connectors and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.
5. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Detach the 5 clips and 2 claws, and remove the console upper rear panel.
(b) Disconnect the connectors.
6. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Detach the 6 clips and 2 claws.

NOTE: Be careful not to break the claws during the operation.

(b) Remove the upper console panel sub-assembly.
7. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH





(a) Detach the clip by pulling the garnish in the direction shown in the illustration.
(b) Pull the No. 1 console upper panel garnish rearward as shown in the illustration to remove it.
8. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH
9. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the screw.





(b) Detach the 4 clips and remove the air conditioning control assembly.
(c) Disconnect the connectors.
10. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 3 bolts.
(b) Detach the 8 clips and remove the center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
11. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET Removal
12. REMOVE NO. 2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER
13. REMOVE NO. 3 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER
14. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal
15. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal
16. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
17. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
18. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET Removal
19. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER LH





(a) Remove the 2 bolts.
(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel lower LH.
20. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Detach the 7 clips.
(b) Disconnect the connectors and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
21. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
22. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 6 bolts and rear console box assembly.
(b) Disconnect the connectors.
23. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH Removal
24. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH





(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the cowl side trim board RH.
25. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the screw.
(b) Detach the 3 clips and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.
26. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the screw and glove compartment door stopper.
(b) While pushing in the sides of the glove compartment door, open the door to release it from the 2 stoppers.
(c) Pull the glove compartment door upward to detach the claws and remove it.
27. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR Removal
28. REMOVE NO. 2 LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL





(a) Remove the 4 screws.
(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel finish panel.
29. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the screw.
(b) Detach the 2 clips and 2 claws, and remove the No. 2 instrument panel register assembly.
30. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY

HINT: Use the same procedure to remove the assist grip on the other side.

(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 assist grip plugs.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and assist grip.
31. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH





(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the claw.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(b) Remove the 2 clips and pillar garnish.
32. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH

HINT: Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

33. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 9 bolts and nut.





(b) Disconnect the connectors.
(c) Remove the instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly.
34. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Audio Premium Version)
(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 4 clips and remove the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly.
35. REMOVE FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (w/ Audio Premium Version)
(a) Remove the 2 screws and front stereo component speaker assembly.
36. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN
(a) Remove the 4 screw and 4 No. 1 instrument panel pins.
37. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
(a) Remove the 5 screws and No. 2 heater to register duct.
38. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 screws and defroster nozzle assembly.
39. REMOVE NO. 1 METER HOOD RETAINER
(a) Remove the screw and No. 1 meter hood retainer.
40. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the screw and center instrument panel bracket sub-assembly.
41. REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (w/ Light Control System)
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Remove the automatic light control sensor.
42. REMOVE COOLER (SOLAR SENSOR) THERMISTOR
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Remove the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor.
43. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
(a) Detach the wire harness clamp and remove the instrument wire.
44. REMOVE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
45. REMOVE NAVIGATION ANTENNA ASSEMBLY (w/ Navigation System) Removal
46. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH
(a) Remove the 3 screws and instrument cluster finish panel garnish.
47. REMOVE NO.1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE GARNISH
(a) Detach the claws and remove the defroster nozzle garnish.
48. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal
