Applicability

Introduction

Some 2008 and 2009 model year 4Runner vehicles equipped with a TOMTOM Portable Navigation Device (PND) may exhibit a condition where the PND reboots during operation. An updated SD card has been developed to address this condition. Use the following procedure to install the updated SD card.

NOTE

This part MUST be ordered through the Fujitsu-Ten exchange program to qualify for warranty coverage.

Parts Identification





The replacement SD card is black with a red dot or has 2 white dots on the back.





Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure

NOTE

Vehicles with black SD cards currently installed DO NOT need initialization after performing this repair procedure. Vehicles equipped with blue SD cards MUST be initialized after completing this repair.





1. Turn ignition to the "OFF" position. Wait for screen to turn off completely then undock TOMTOM from the audio unit.





2. Remove the SD card then insert the NEW SD card.





3. Turn ignition to the "ON" position.





4. Dock TQMTQM to the audio head unit.

NOTE

Do NOT turn ignition to the "OFF" position.

The following initialization procedure is only necessary if the vehicle was previously equipped with a blue SD card.

Initialization Procedure

1. Reset TOMTOM application to the factory setting.





A. Touch MAP screen.





B. Select "Change preferences".

NOTE

If the opening Main Menu is 1 of 3, skip to step "E".





C. Select "Show ALL menu options".





D. Touch MAP screen again.





E. Select "Change preferences".





F. Select "Reset factory settings".





G. Select Yes from the "Reset Factory Settings".





H. Select YES from the "Please Confirm:" screen.

NOTE

All customer data will be erased.





I. Select language and follow the screen prompts.

2. Reset TQMTQM hardware.





A. Turn ignition to the "OFF" position.

Wait for screen to turn oft completely then undock TOMTOM from the audio unit.





B. Push the reset button for 2 seconds. A paper clip or the tip of a ball point pen can be used to press the button as shown in Figure 16.

NOTE

The reset button is located on the bottom of the TOMTOM unit.

3. Turn ignition to the "ON" position.





4. Dock TQMTQM to the audio unit.

Do NOT turn ignition to the "OFF" position.

5. Reset is complete.


6. Turn on TQMTQM unit and verify proper operation.
