Scan Tool Testing and Procedures
LIGHTING: LIGHTING SYSTEM: DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST
DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST
1. DATA LIST
HINT: Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.
NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.
(a) Turn the ignition switch LOCK.
(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(c) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(d) Turn the tester on.
(e) Enter the menus.
(f) Enter the following menus:
(1) Select: Body Electrical / Body / Data List /
(g) According to the display on tester, read the "DATA LIST".

2. ACTIVE TEST
NOTE: When a Rear Junction Block ECU and Multiplex Network Front Light ECU (Front Controller) related vehicle switch is ON, Active Test items related to the vehicle switch are prohibited (double operation prohibition). Check that the vehicle switches are OFF before performing Active Tests.
HINT: Using the Techstream to perform Active Test allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Test early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Test.
