BRAKE CONTROL: REAR SPEED SENSOR (for 2WD): REMOVAL
HINT
* Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
* The following procedure is for the LH side.
* If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the rear axle hub and bearing assembly with rear speed sensor.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Repair Instruction - Initialization
2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
3. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE
(a) Using a screwdriver, disconnect the connector from the rear speed sensor.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the rear speed sensor.
4. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Replacement
5. REMOVE REAR DISC Disassembly
6. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY WITH REAR SPEED SENSOR Removal
7. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR
(a) Install the 3 hub nuts and mount the rear axle hub and bearing assembly in a vise using aluminum plates.
NOTICE:
Replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.
(b) Using a pin punch and hammer, drive out the 2 pins and remove the 2 attachments from SST.

(c) Using SST and 2 bolts (diameter: 12 mm, pitch: 1.5 mm), remove the rear speed sensor from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

NOTICE:
* Keep the rear speed sensor away from magnets.
* Pull the rear speed sensor off straight, taking care not to allow it to contact the rear speed sensor rotor.
* If the rear speed sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
* Do not scratch the contact surface between the rear axle hub and bearing assembly and the rear speed sensor.
* Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the rear speed sensor rotor or tip.
