Back Door





ENGINE HOOD / DOOR: BACK DOOR: ADJUSTMENT





HINT
* Centering bolts are used to mount the door hinge onto the vehicle body and door. The door cannot be adjusted with the centering bolts on. Substitute standard bolts (with washers) for the centering bolts when making adjustments.
* For bolts without torque specifications, check the standard bolt chart Standard Bolt - Specified Torque For Standard Bolts.

1. INSPECT BACK DOOR

(a) Check that the clearance measurements are within the standard ranges.





Standard:





2. ADJUST BACK DOOR

(a) Adjust the door position.





(1) Adjust the door horizontally and longitudinally by loosening the 4 door side hinge bolts.

(2) Tighten the door side hinge bolts after the adjustment.

Torque : 26 Nm (265 kgf-cm, 19 ft-lbf)

(3) Horizontally and vertically adjust the door by loosening the 8 body side hinge bolts.





(4) Tighten the body side hinge bolts after the adjustment.

Torque : 42 Nm (428 kgf-cm, 31 ft-lbf)

(b) Adjust the striker position.





(1) Adjust the striker position by slightly loosening the striker mounting screws and hitting the striker with a plastic hammer.

(2) Tighten the striker mounting screws after the adjustment.

Torque : 23 Nm (235 kgf-cm, 17 ft-lbf)

(c) Adjust the back door side female stopper.





(1) Adjust the side female stopper so that the door can be opened/closed smoothly, as shown in the illustration.

(2) Tighten the side female stopper bolts after the adjustment.

Torque : 7.0 Nm (71 kgf-cm, 62 in-lbf)
