Engine Immobiliser System (w/ Smart Key System)
ENGINE IMMOBILISER: ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM (w/ Smart Key System): B2799-790: Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction
B2799-790 - Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
This DTC is output if one of the following occurs: 1) the hybrid vehicle control ECU detects errors in its own communication with the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU); 2) the hybrid vehicle control ECU detects an error in the communication lines; or 3) the ECU communication ID between the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) and hybrid vehicle control ECU is different and a hybrid control system start is attempted. Before troubleshooting this DTC, make sure no certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) DTCs are present. If present, troubleshoot the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) DTCs first.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
* If the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) is replaced, register the ECU code and ECU communication ID Engine Immobiliser System (W/ Smart Key System).
* If the hybrid vehicle control ECU is replaced, register the ECU communication ID Engine Immobiliser System (W/ Smart Key System).
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT
(a) Delete the DTCs Engine Immobiliser System (w/ Smart Key System).
(b) Recheck for DTCs.
OK:
B2799-790 output does not recur.
NG -- RE-REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID
OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
2. RE-REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID
(a) Re-register the ECU communication ID Engine Immobiliser System (W/ Smart Key System).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT
(a) Delete the DTCs Engine Immobiliser System (w/ Smart Key System).
(b) Recheck for DTCs.
OK:
B2799-790 output does not recur.
NG -- CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR
OK -- END (ECU COMMUNICATION ID IS DEFECTIVE)
4. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the hybrid vehicle control ECU and the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU).
OK:
Connectors are properly connected.
NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ID CODE BOX - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU)
(a) Disconnect the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) and hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NOTICE:
Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Delete the DTCs after performing this inspection.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
(a) Replace the hybrid vehicle control ECU Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
7. RE-REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID
(a) Re-register the ECU communication ID Engine Immobiliser System (W/ Smart Key System).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK DTC OUTPUT
(a) Delete the DTCs Engine Immobiliser System (w/ Smart Key System).
(b) Recheck for DTCs.
OK:
B2799-790 output does not recur.
NG -- REPLACE ID CODE BOX (IMMOBILISER CODE ECU) Removal
OK -- END (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU IS DEFECTIVE)
