DESCRIPTION

The MG ECU monitors its internal operation for malfunctions.





MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The MG ECU performs many diagnostic tests to verify proper operation of internal ECU systems. In one of those diagnostics, the MG ECU checks the result of the motor CPU self-test. If the MG ECU detects a "Fail" from the motor CPU self-test, it will conclude that there is an internal malfunction in the motor CPU. The hybrid vehicle control ECU will illuminate the MIL and set a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN





1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.

3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

4. Turn the ignition switch off.

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), and then after a few seconds turn the ignition switch off. [A]

6. Repeat [A] 3 times. [B]

7. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.

8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes. [C]

9. Check that permanent DTCs are cleared.

10. If the permanent DTCs are not cleared, perform the universal trip, and then check for permanent DTCs again.

HINT
* If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
* If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

(a) Replace the inverter with converter assembly Removal.
