DESCRIPTION

If pattern select switch (EV mode switch) signals are input to the hybrid vehicle control ECU, the ECU sends signals to the combination meter assembly via CAN communication to turn on the EV mode light.

If any of the following conditions are not met, EV mode may not be turned on or the mode may be canceled. (A buzzer sounds to indicate that the transition to EV mode is canceled and a message is displayed on the multi-information display.)

PROCEDURE

1. ASK ABOUT VEHICLE CONDITION

(a) Ask the customer if a buzzer sounded to indicate that the transition to EV mode was canceled and a message was displayed on the multi-information display when they pressed the pattern select switch assembly (EV mode switch).

HINT
If a buzzer sounds and a message is displayed on the multi-information display, one or more of the EV mode entry conditions have not been met. Check that all of the EV mode entry conditions have been met before pressing the pattern select switch assembly (EV mode switch).

2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK)

HINT
ECUs that are correctly connected to the CAN communication system can be displayed on the Techstream.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Enter the following menus: System Select / CAN Bus Check.

3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (ALL DTC CODE)

(a) Check for DTCs of all systems by following the prompts on the Techstream screen.

4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (COMBINATION METER)

(a) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test / Indicat. EV Mode.

(b) Perform the "Indicat. EV Mode" Active Test.

5. CHECK PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (EV MODE SWITCH)

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Disconnect the pattern select switch assembly (EV mode switch) connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND)

(a) Connect the pattern select switch assembly (EV mode switch) connector.

(b) Disconnect connector D72 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
