Hybrid System Indicator Malfunction

METER: METER / GAUGE SYSTEM: Hybrid System Indicator Malfunction
- Hybrid System Indicator Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This vehicle has an ECON indicator light, variable economy zone display and EV drive mode indicator. In this circuit, the meter CPU receives the EV drive mode switch signal and pattern select switch signal from the hybrid vehicle control ECU via the CAN communication line (V1 bus). The meter CPU controls the operation of the ECON indicator light, variable economy zone display and EV drive mode indicator as follows:

1. ECON indicator light and variable economy zone display:

The ECON indicator light and variable economy zone display inform the driver of the fuel consumption while driving. Pressing the ECON switch located on the center console will switch between ECON mode and normal mode. When the meter CPU receives a signal from the ECON switch, it will illuminate the ECON indicator light to inform the driver that the vehicle is traveling in a mode that restricts excessive fuel consumption.

2. EV drive indicator light

EV drive mode reduces noise and emission gas. While in EV drive mode, the EV drive indicator light illuminates to inform the driver that the vehicle is in EV drive mode. While the EV drive mode operation conditions are met, pressing the EV drive mode switch (pattern select switch assembly) located on the center console will switch between EV drive mode and normal mode. When any of the previously met conditions become unsatisfied or if the EV drive mode operation conditions are not met, the EV drive indicator light will flash 3 times, a buzzer in the combination meter assembly will sound, and EV drive mode will be canceled. When the meter CPU receives an EV drive mode cancel signal, it will display an EV drive mode cancel warning on the multi-information display.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT
If there is an open or short in the EV drive mode switch circuit, or the pattern select switch circuit, the hybrid vehicle control ECU outputs DTCs. Perform troubleshooting with the "P313 Hybrid Control System" EV Drive Mode Switch Circuit for EV drive mode switch circuit, Pattern Select Switch Circuit for Pattern select switch circuit).

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

(a) Check for the DTC.
