DESCRIPTION
This function is designed to automatically illuminate the headlights (HI-beams), during the daytime to make the car more visible to other vehicles. The main body ECU and power distributor control this function. The main body ECU transmits a turn ON signal to the power distributor and the power distributor illuminates the HI-beams using duty control. The daytime running lights come on when the conditions below are met:
* The ignition switch is ON.
* The READY condition signal is input.
* The parking brake switch is OFF.
* The light control switch is not in DRL OFF.*1
* The light control switch is in the OFF*2, TAIL or AUTO position and the headlights are not turned on via the automatic light control.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK HEADLIGHT
(a) Check the operation of the HI-beam headlights.
OK:
HI-beam headlights operate normally.
NG -- GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT ENGINE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the engine room junction block assembly from the engine room relay block.
(b) Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2D-1.
(c) Connect a negative (-) lead from the battery to terminals 2A-5, 2A-17 and 2B-8.
(d) Check for pulses according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard:
NG -- REPLACE ENGINE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
