SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (for Rear Side): REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

2. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY Removal

3. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER ASSEMBLY Removal

4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE Removal

6. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP Removal

7. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE Removal

8. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP Removal

9. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH Removal

10. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Disconnect the connector from the side airbag sensor.





NOTICE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(b) Remove the bolt and disengage the pin, and remove the side airbag sensor.

NOTICE:
Loosen the bolt while holding the side airbag sensor because the side airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
