Removal

STEERING GEAR / LINKAGE: STEERING LINKAGE: REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing the steering column Service Precautions.

1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

2. OPEN STABILIZER CONTROL WITH ACCUMULATOR HOUSING SHUTTER VALVE Removal

3. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove engine assembly Removal.

4. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS

5. LOOSEN FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH Removal

6. LOOSEN FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH Removal

7. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Removal

8. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH Removal

9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH Removal

10. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH Removal

11. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR Removal

12. DISCONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT Removal

13. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

14. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

15. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Put matchmarks on the tie rod end LH and steering rack end.

(b) Measure length A and record the measurement.

(c) Remove the tie rod end.

16. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

17. DISCONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the clamp and disconnect the pressure feed tube (return tube side) from the power steering link.





(b) Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the pressure feed tube (pressure feed tube side) from the power steering link.





(c) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the pressure feed tube clamp.

18. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION REBOUND STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

19. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION REBOUND STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal

20. REMOVE POWER STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 3 bolts, 3 nuts and power steering link.
