Stuck in Deceleration Sensor
BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: C1232/32,C1234/34,C1244/44,C1279/79: Stuck in Deceleration Sensor
C1279/79 - Deceleration Sensor Output Voltage Malfunction (Test Mode DTC)
DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU receives signals from the yaw rate and deceleration sensor via the CAN communication system.
The yaw rate sensor has a built-in deceleration sensor.
If there is trouble in the bus lines between the yaw rate sensor and skid control ECU, DTC U0123/62 (malfunction in CAN communication with the yaw rate sensor) and U0124/69 (malfunction in CAN communication with the deceleration sensor) are output.
DTC C1279/79 is cleared when the yaw rate sensor sends a deceleration signal failure in test mode. DTC C1279/79 is using only in test mode.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
When U0123/62, U0124/69 or U0126/63 is output together with C1232/32, C1234/34 or C1244/44, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0123/62, U0124/69 or U0126/63 first.
NOTICE:
When replacing the VSC actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration Programming and Relearning.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC
(a) Clear the DTC(s) Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Turn the ignition switch off.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON again and check that no CAN communication system DTC(s) is output.
(d) Drive the vehicle at a speed of 30 km/h (19 mph) or more and check that no DTCs are output.
Result
C -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS (SYMPTOM SIMULATION) How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
B -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM How to Proceed With Troubleshooting
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK YAW RATE SENSOR INSTALLATION
(a) Check that the yaw rate sensor has been installed correctly.
Torque:
13 N*m (127 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)
OK:
The sensor is tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor is not tilted.
NOTICE:
Do not use an electric impact wrench to tighten the yaw rate sensor bolts because the sensor is sensitive to vibration.
NG -- INSTALL YAW RATE SENSOR CORRECTLY Installation
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT YAW RATE SENSOR
(a) Remove the 2 nuts of the sensor bracket and yaw rate sensor with the connector connected Removal.
(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(c) Turn the Techstream ON.
(d) Select the Data List mode on the Techstream.
ABS/VSC/TRAC
(e) Place the yaw rate sensor as shown in the illustration and turn the sensor to the right and left.
(f) Check that the deceleration value of the deceleration sensor displayed on the Techstream changes.
OK:
Deceleration value changes.
NG -- REPLACE YAW RATE SENSOR Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK YAW RATE SENSOR TERMINAL VOLTAGE
(a) for 4WD:
Disconnect the O12 sensor connector.
(b) for 2WD:
Disconnect the O11 sensor connector.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
for 4WD
for 2WD
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
for 4WD
for 2WD
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE VSC ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY Removal
