APPLICABILITY:
INTRODUCTION:
Some 2011 and 2012 model year Sienna vehicles may exhibit an intermittent SRS lamp "ON" condition with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1821 and/or B1826 stored in memory (in both current and history). The terminal crimping for the side (seat) airbag has been improved to address this condition.

This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Follow the diagnostic procedure in the Repair Manual.
Refer to the ETAS/TIS library, applicable model year Sienna Repair Manual:
B1821:
^ 2011 - 2012 Sienna:

B1826:

Vehicle Interior- Supplemental Restraint Systems - "Supplemental Restraint Systems: Airbag System: B1825/56-B1828/5& Short in Side Squib LH Circuit"
2. After confirming the vehicle condition, replace the seat side airbag that corresponds to the DTC.
NOTE
If any other SRS DTCs are found refer to the appropriate repair manual for diagnosis and repair.

Removal of Seat Side Airbag:

Installation of New Seat Side Airbag:

3. Perform zero point calibration and sensitivity check (for front passenger seat).
4. Initialize power systems (windows, moon, roof, etc.). Refer to the appropriate Repair Manual in the ETAS/TIS library:

5. Clear all DTCs in the SRS system.
6. Test drive vehicle.
7. Perform Health Check and verify repair.
8. Dispose of the old airbag in accordance with local regulations.
