Rear Airbag Sensor Assembly RH Initialization Incomplete - Airbag System
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1633/81: Rear Airbag Sensor Assembly RH Initialization Incomplete
B1633/81 - Rear Airbag Sensor Assembly RH Initialization Incomplete
DESCRIPTION
The circuit for the side collision sensor RH (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag assembly RH and curtain shield airbag assembly RH) is composed of the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH.
The side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH detect impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.
DTC B1633/81 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the circuit for the side collision sensor RH (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag assembly RH and curtain shield airbag assembly RH).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK PAST DTC
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(c) Check the past DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
Result
B -- GO TO DTC B1637/82 B1637
A -- GO TO DTC B1632/81 B1632
C -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH.
OK:
The connectors are properly connected.
NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK CONNECTORS
(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH.
(b) Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor assembly side, side airbag sensor RH side and rear airbag sensor RH side) are not damaged.
OK:
The connectors are not deformed or damaged.
NG -- REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH
(a) Interchange the side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.
(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(d) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory DTC Check / Clear.
(e) Turn the ignition switch off.
(f) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(g) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
Result

(h) Turn the ignition switch off.
(i) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(j) Return the side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
B -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Diagnosis System
A -- REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH Removal
C -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK REAR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT
Text in Illustration
(a) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
(d) Turn the ignition switch off.
(e) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(f) Using a service wire, connect terminals 1 (BCR+) and 2 (BCR-) of connector E.
NOTICE:
Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.
(g) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(h) Disconnect the service wire from connector E.
(i) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH - FRONT DOOR WIRE RH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH
(a) Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with the LH and connect the connectors to them.

DTCs other than B1633/81 and B1638/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
(h) Turn the ignition switch off.
(i) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(j) Return the rear airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
B -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY Removal
A -- REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH Removal
C -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Diagnosis System
7. CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH - FRONT DOOR WIRE RH)
Text in Illustration
(a) Disconnect the No. 2 floor wire connector from the front door wire RH.
(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
