Removal





1AR-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: ENGINE UNIT: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE





(a) Remove the engine oil level dipstick.

(b) Remove the bolt and engine oil level dipstick guide.

(c) Remove the O-ring from the engine oil level dipstick guide.

2. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY Removal

3. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY Removal

4. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD Removal

5. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET Removal

6. REMOVE NO. 1 COMPRESSOR MOUNTING BRACKET





(a) Remove the 4 bolts and bracket.

7. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE ASSEMBLY





(a) Disconnect the vacuum hose.

(b) Loosen the hose clip and remove the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose.

8. DISCONNECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE HOSE ASSEMBLY





(a) Disengage the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the vacuum switching valve hose.

(b) Loosen the hose clip and disconnect the vacuum switching valve hose.

9. REMOVE UNION TO CONNECTOR TUBE HOSE





(a) Loosen the hose clip and remove the union to connector tube hose.

10. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD





(a) Apply battery voltage to the terminals of the connector to close the tumble control valves.

OK:





NOTICE:
* When removing the intake manifold, be sure to remove the intake manifold slowly while confirming that the tumble control valves remain in the closed position.
* If this procedure is not performed, the valves may be damaged when the intake manifold is removed.
* Apply battery voltage for 1 to 3 seconds.
* If battery voltage is applied for more than 3 seconds, the actuator may be damaged.
* Do not allow the lead wires to contact the other terminals.

(b) Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses.





(1) Loosen the hose clip and disconnect the water by-pass hose.

(2) Loosen the hose clip and disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose.

(c) Disengage the hose clamp and disconnect the fuel tube.





(d) Loosen the hose clip and disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose.





(e) Disengage the hose clamp and separate the No. 2 ventilation hose.

(f) Disengage the 6 harness clamps and disconnect the intake air control valve actuator connector.





(g) Remove the 6 bolts and the intake manifold.





NOTICE:
* The valves may be damaged if they are not closed before removing the intake manifold.
* When the intake manifold has been removed, set the tumble control valves to the half open position and keep them there.

(h) Remove the intake manifold gasket from the intake manifold.





11. REMOVE SENSOR WIRE





(a) Disconnect the knock sensor wire.

(b) Remove the bolt and knock sensor wire.

12. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR Removal

13. REMOVE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal

14. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Removal

15. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

16. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY Removal

17. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Removal
