How to Proceed With Troubleshooting





STEERING COLUMN: STEERING LOCK SYSTEM: HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

* Use the following procedures to troubleshoot the steering lock system.

1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE

Standard voltage:

11 to 14 V

If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK DTC*

(a) Check for DTCs and make a note of any codes that are output Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(c) Recheck for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Based on the DTCs output above, try to cause the output of the same wireless door lock control system DTC, LIN communication system DTC, steering lock system DTC, engine immobiliser system DTC or smart key system (for entry function) DTC by reproducing the symptoms indicated by the DTC.
