Applicability
Introduction
Some 2011 model year Sienna vehicles equipped with Safety Connect may exhibit a condition where the SOS status light is RED and during outgoing calls the volume is low or voice recognition performs poorly. A revised Telematics Transceiver (DCM) is available to address this condition.

Diagnostic Procedure
Attempt to connect to the Telematics system using Techstream.
1. Click on the Telematics option from the main menu. If the Telematics system will not respond proceed to the repair procedure in this bulletin (note the asterisk at Telematics option).
HINT
An asterisk in front of the system name indicates that the system is not available or will not respond. Always verify scan tool to DCM communication before declaring the DCM inoperative.
2. If Telematics CAN be accessed (note no asterisk at Telematics option) then this bulletin does NOT apply. Diagnose per the Repair Manual found on the Technical Information System (TIS).
Repair Procedure
1. Replace the Telematics Transceiver (DCM). Refer to TIS 2011 Sienna Repair Manual:
^ Audio/Visual/Telematics - Cellular Communication - "Cellular Communication: Mayday ECU: Removal / Installation"
2. Activate the Telematics Transceiver (DCM).

^ Audio/Visual/Telematics - Cellular Communication - "Cellular Communication: Safety Connect System: DCM Activation"
3. Confirm proper Safety Connect operation. This may be performed by pressing the "SOS" button and making a test SOS call to the Safety Connect call center.
NOTE
Please inform the Safety Connect call center operator that there is no emergency and call was made to test the system.
