Applicability

Introduction

Some 2010 - 2012 model year Tacoma vehicles with Access Cab may exhibit audio distortion particularly with music containing heavy bass at higher volume levels or with Fade set to Rear. An updated radio assembly is now available to address this condition.

Repair Procedure

1. Confirm that audio distortion is present on the customer vehicle.

A. Set Volume = 55 Fade = R4.

B. Select music with heavy bass from any input source.





2. Confirm that the radio faceplate ID matches one of those listed.

3. Order a replacement radio through the applicable radio exchange program per the Toyota Warranty Policy and Procedures, "Policy 4.13: audio systems Warranty".

4. Remove the original radio assembly.

6. Confirm that audio distortion has been eliminated.
