Applicability

Introduction





Some 2008 - 2011 model year Tacoma vehicles exhibit a condition where the roof drip molding is found to be lifting at the rear edge of the vehicle cab. The left and/or right molding may be gapped and slightly sticking above the roof line. Improved roof drip moldings have been made available to address this condition.

Production Change Information





This TSB applies to ALL 2008-2010 model year NUMMI (WMI = 5TE) and TMMBC (WMI = 3TM) Tacoma vehicles.

This TSB applies to 2011 model year Tacoma vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

Removal Procedure


1. Remove the roof drip side finish molding.

Refer to Technical Instruction System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

2008 / 2009 / 2010 / 2011 Tacoma:
Vehicle Exterior - Exterior Panels/Trim - Roof Drip Side Finish Moulding: Removal





A. Apply protective tape to the outer circumference of the roof drip side finish molding as shown in Figure 2.

B. Using a heat light heat the roof drip side finish molding. Heating temperature: 40 to 60° C (104 to 140° F)

NOTICE

Do not heat the roof drip side finish molding and vehicle body excessively.

C. Using a molding remover disengage the 2 clips and remove the roof drip side finish molding.

NOTICE

^ Do not remove the roof panel clips from the vehicle body.

If the roof panel clips are damaged or removed accidentally, replace with new clips.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the NEW roof drip molding in the reverse order.

A. Ensure that the contact surface at the rear of the cab is clean and free of contaminates by using 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner or equivalent.

NOTE

Cleaner should include a silicone remover.

B. Engage the 2 clips and install the roof drip side finish molding.

NOTE

Install all sections of molding securely.
