INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
The vehicle is equipped with an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) which includes components such as airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precaution for the Supplemental Restraint System Service Precautions.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK ILLUMINATION
(a) Check if the illumination for the radio receiver, steering pad switch, heater control switch or others (hazard switch, transmission control switch, etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the HEAD or TAIL position.
Result
D -- INSPECT FUSE (TAIL)
C -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - COMBINATION METER)
B -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the S8 spiral cable connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
(c) Reconnect the spiral cable connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the steering pad switch assembly connector.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal IL+2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal EAU of the steering pad switch assembly connector.
(c) Check if the illumination for the steering pad switch assembly comes on.
OK:
Illumination for the steering pad switch assembly comes on.
(d) Reconnect the steering pad switch assembly connector.
NG -- REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the S8 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the steering pad switch assembly connectors.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NOTICE:
The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the precaution for the SRS Service Precautions.
(d) Reconnect the steering pad switch assembly connector.
(e) Reconnect the spiral cable connector.
NG -- REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - RADIO RECEIVER)
(a) Disconnect the R3 radio receiver assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the S8 spiral cable connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(d) Reconnect the spiral cable connector.
(e) Reconnect the radio receiver assembly connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Problem Symptoms Table
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the R1 radio receiver assembly connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
*1: for Except Double Cab with 7 Speakers
*2: for Double Cab with 7 Speakers
(c) Reconnect the radio receiver assembly connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - COMBINATION METER)
(a) Disconnect the R1 or R2 radio receiver assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the C9 combination meter assembly connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
*1: for Except Double Cab with 7 Speakers
*2: for Double Cab with 7 Speakers
(d) Reconnect the radio receiver assembly connector.
(e) Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Problem Symptoms Table
8. INSPECT FUSE (TAIL)
(a) Remove the TAIL fuse from the main body ECU.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(c) Reinstall the fuse.
NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION)
