SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

1. SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

If a seat belt is not fastened, this system flashes the seat belt warning light or sounds the seat belt warning buzzer as a reminder.

(a) Driver side seat belt warning light:

When the driver side seat belt is not fastened with the ignition switch ON, the driver side seat belt warning light on the meter comes on to inform the driver. The center airbag sensor detects the driver side seat belt status and sends signals to the meter ECU using CAN.

(b) Front passenger side seat belt warning light:

When the front passenger side seat belt is not fastened with the ignition switch ON and the front passenger side seat occupied, the front passenger side seat belt warning light on the integration control and panel blinks. The integration control and panel displays the front passenger side seat belt status and whether the front passenger side seat is occupied.

(c) Seat belt warning buzzer:

When the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more while the driver or front passenger side seat belt is not fastened, the seat belt warning buzzer in the meter ECU sounds at intervals of 1.2 seconds 5 times.
