DESCRIPTION

The meter ECU detects the state of the front seat inner belt RH when the front passenger side seat is occupied with the ignition switch ON. If the front passenger side seat belt is not fastened, the front passenger side seat belt warning light on the integration control and panel blinks. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light goes off.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Check for DTCs.

(1) for CAN communication system Service Precautions.

(2) for Airbag system Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(3) for Occupant classification system Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

2. INSPECT FUSE (ECU-IG No. 1)

(a) Remove the ECU-IG No. 1 fuse from the passenger side junction block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT)

(a) Operate the Techstream according to the steps on the display and select "Active Test".

Combination Meter:





OK -- REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH
NG -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL - COMBINATION METER AND BATTERY)





(a) Disconnect the J37 panel connector.

(b) Disconnect the J28 meter connector.

(c) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

Standard voltage










NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY





(a) for Column Shift Type:

(1) Remove the integration control and panel Removal.

(b) for Floor Shift Type:

(1) Remove the integration control and panel Removal.

(c) Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 16 (IG+), and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 14 (PBEW).

(d) Check that the front passenger side seat belt warning light comes on.

OK:

Front passenger side seat belt warning light (for passenger side) comes on.

A -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER Removal

6. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Temporarily replace the front seat inner belt RH with a new or normally functioning one Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT

(a) Check the front passenger side seat belt warning light function Operation Check.

OK:

Front passenger side seat belt warning light operates normally.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER Removal

OK -- END (FRONT SEAT INNER BELT RH IS DEFECTIVE)
