Applicability


INTRODUCTION

Some 2011 model year Avalon and Tundra vehicles equipped with a combination rear view mirror/monitor/compass may stop indicating the correct compass heading direction even after calibration. An updated mirror assembly is now available.

Repair Procedure

1. Remove the inner rear view mirror.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
- 2011 Avalon / Tundra:
Vehicle Interior - Mirror (Int) - "Mirror: Inner Rear View Mirror: Removal"

2. Install the updated mirror.

Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
- 2011 Avalon / Tundra:
Vehicle Interior - Mirror (Int) - "Mirror: Inner Rear View Mirror: Installation"

3. Calibrate the compass in the rear view mirror.

Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
- 2011 Avalon / Tundra:
Vehicle Interior - Mirror (Int) - "Mirror: Inner Rear View Mirror: Calibration"

4. Verify correct operation of the compass and all other rear view mirror accessories.
