Back Door Closer Does Not Operate

DESCRIPTION

When the back door closer does not operate, one of the following may be the cause 1) improper fit of back door, or a foreign object is stuck in back door, or 2) initialization of the power back door ECU, or a malfunction in the 3) power back door ECU power source circuit, or 4) back door lock circuit, or 5) power back door ECU.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK BACK DOOR LOCK FUNCTION

(a) Check if the back door is fully closed by hand.

NG -- IMPROPER FIT OF BACK DOOR, OR A FOREIGN OBJECT IS STUCK IN BACK DOOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. INITIALIZE POWER BACK DOOR ECU

(a) Check that the power back door drive unit (power back door ECU) can be initialized Initialization.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK BACK DOOR CLOSER SYSTEM

(a) Check that the back door closer system operation.

OK:

Back door closer system operates normally.

NG -- CHECK DTC OUTPUT

OK -- END

4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT

(a) Check for the DTCs Back Door Closer System.

Result:





B -- GO TO DTC CHART (B2250) B2250

C -- GO TO DTC CHART (B2251) B2251
A -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT FUSE (ECU IG NO. 1, ECU-B)

(a) Remove the ECU IG No. 1 fuse from the instrument panel junction block and ECU-B fuse from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK FUSIBLE LINK BLOCK ASSEMBLY (PBD FUSE)

(a) Remove the fusible link block assembly.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard resistance:





HINT
PBD 30A fuse is located in the fusible link block assembly.

NG -- REPLACE FUSIBLE LINK BLOCK ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the O15 power back door ECU connector.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE)

(a) Disconnect the O15 power back door ECU connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK





(a) Remove the back door lock.

(b) Apply battery voltage and check operation of the door lock motor.

OK:





(c) Measure the resistance of the switch.

Standard resistance:

Full-latch switch
Back door courtesy light switch










NG -- REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR LOCK - POWER BACK DOOR ECU AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the T4 door lock connector.





(b) Disconnect the O15 ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT (POWER BACK DOOR ECU) Removal
