U760E AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE: SHIFT LEVER: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the shift lever assembly with the 4 nuts.





Torque : 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)

HINT
Tighten the nuts in the order of A, B, C and D.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to route the indicator light or shift lock system wiring between the shift lever assembly and the floor while installing the shift lever assembly.

(b) Install the No. 2 console box mounting bracket with the 2 screws.

(c) Connect the 2 connectors to the shift lever assembly.





2. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Rotate the transmission control cable nut counterclockwise and, while holding the nut in that position, press in the stopper.





(b) Connect the outer part of the transmission control cable assembly to the shift lever retainer.





NOTICE:
After installation, check that the outer part of the cable lock is protruding beyond portion A-A as shown in the illustration.

(c) Slide the slider in the direction shown in the illustration and pull out the lock piece.





(d) Install the cable end to the shift control unit.





NOTICE:
* Check that the lock piece is pulled up.
* Install the cable end all the way to the base of the pin.

(e) Push the lock piece into the adjuster case.





NOTICE:
Firmly push in the lock piece until the slider locks.

3. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the shift lever knob sub-assembly.

9. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT (w/o Rear Air Conditioning System) Installation

10. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

11. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

12. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

13. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Installation

14. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH Installation

15. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

16. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Installation

17. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Installation

18. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY Installation

19. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
