Wiper and Washer Systems: Service Precautions
WIPER AND WASHER: WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM: PRECAUTION
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following system after the cable is reconnected.
1. EXPRESSIONS OF IGNITION SWITCH
(a) The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle.
The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.
2. PRECAUTION OF WASHER NOZZLE ADJUSTMENT
(a) Do not clean or adjust the washer nozzle with a safety pin, etc. because:
(1) the washer nozzle tip is made of resin and could be damaged.
(2) adjustment is not necessary for this spray type washer nozzle. If it is necessary to change the nozzle angle, replace the washer nozzle with one that has a different nozzle angle Adjustments.
(b) If the washer nozzle is clogged with wax, etc., remove it and clean the nozzle hole with a soft resin brush or other cleaning tool.
3. PRECAUTION OF REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY (for Glass Hatch Type)
(a) Be sure to use the centering jig when removing and installing the rear wiper motor assembly. Failure to do so will result in a change of the location of the axis of the rear wiper motor assembly, causing the wiping angle to change.
(b) If the rear wiper motor assembly is removed without using the centering jig, the rear wiper motor assembly must be replaced with a new one.
(c) After installing the rear wiper motor assembly, do not open the glass hatch before installing the rear wiper link pivot.
