Special tools and equipment
- VAG 1551/3 wire
- VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST)
- VAS 5056 test box
- VAS 5051 tester
Scan Tool (ST), Connecting
All functions previously performed with the V.A.G 1551 or V.A.G 1552 can also be performed using the new VAS 5051 tester via operating mode vehicle self-diagnosis.
Vehicles > 12.95
- Fold down cover in front of relay carrier.
- With ignition switched off: connect V.A.G 1551 Scan Tool (ST) to diagnostic connections above relay carrier using V.A.G 1551/1 cable as follows:
- First connect black connector for voltage supply of Scan Tool (ST) to black Data Link Connector (DLC).
NOTE: Do not connect white connector if there is no indication on display! If this occurs, check voltage supply for the Scan Tool (repair step).
- Do not connect white connector to white Data Link Connector (DLC) until display indicates "V.A.G. On Board Diagnostic (OBD)".
Test sequence (for all vehicles)
Indicated on display:
V.A.G On Board Diagnostic (OBD) HELP
1 - Rapid data transfer*
2 - Blink code output*
* Two operating modes are displayed alternately
NOTE:
- If nothing is indicated on display, check voltage supply for VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) according to wiring diagram.
- Depending on the program, additional operating information can be printed out by pressing the HELP button of the V.A.G 1551 scan tool.
- The -> button is used for advancing through the program sequence.
- The PRINT button is used for switching on the printer (lamp in button lights up).
NOTE: The address word 00 initiates the automatic test sequence, i.e. it results in a DTC check on all OBD capable systems in the vehicle via rapid data transfer.
