Fig. 6 Voltage stabilizer, checking
NOTE: Only check when fuel and coolant temperature gauges both indicate false readings. Do not disconnect battery ground strap; instrument cluster multi-pin connector remains connected.
Voltage supply, checking
- Remove right-hand instrument.
- Switch on ignition.
- Connect voltmeter between terminal 15 -a- and ground -b-
- Specification: approx. battery voltage
- If specification not achieved, check wiring to instrument cluster using wiring diagram.
Output voltage, checking
- Connect voltmeter between outlet -c- and ground -b-
- Specification: 9.5 - 10.5 V
- If specification not achieved, replace voltage stabilizer.
Fig. 7 Voltage stabilizer, removing and installing (only on mechanical speedometers)
- Remove right instrument.
- Remove securing screw -2- and pull voltage stabilizer -1- downwards and out of contacts -a, b, c-.
NOTE: When installing, ensure that the 3 connections are inserted in contacts -a, b, c- and that the stabilizer is screwed tightly to heat sink -3- (heat dissipation away from housing).
Fig. 8 Speedometer Vehicle Speed (VSS) Sensor -G22-*, removing and installing
- G22- is installed on the transmission housing and provides 4 impulse per rotation.
- Disconnect electrical connection.
- Using appropriate wrench (22 mm), unscrew sensor from transmission housing and remove.
