Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

PURPOSE AND OPERATION
The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is an NTC thermistor. The Digifant control module uses the signal from the intake air temperature sensor to modify the injection duration. The CO potentiometer is no longer used.

When the intake air temperatures are low, the signal from the intake air temperature sensor is used to lengthen the injector opening time (enriching the fuel mixture). As the intake air temperature increases, the injector opening time is progressively decreased (fuel mixture leaned).

NTC Thermistor - A semiconductor (resistor) that loses resistance as temperature increases.
