CONNECTING VAG
- Fold down storage shelf in front of fuse/relay panel.



- Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool using adaptor cable VAG 1551/1.
- Connect black Scan Tool (ST) connector to black Data Link Connector (DLC) 2.

^ Display will alternate as shown:

1 - Rapid data transfer

^ Appears alternately with:

VAG On Board Diagnostic HELP
2 - Blink code output

- If display does NOT appear on Scan Tool:

- Do not connect Scan Tool white connector.
- Check voltage supply to Scan Tool.

- If display appears as shown:

- Connect white Scan Tool connector to vehicle white DLC 3.
- Do not connect the blue Scan Tool connector, it is not required.

- Depending on which Scan Tool function is required; either switch ON ignition or start engine and let idle.




NOTE: To determine which function to select, refer to chart.

- To obtain additional operating instructions press the HELP button at any time.
- To step through the program sequence, press the --> button.
- Press button 1 to select "Rapid data transfer" operating mode.

^ Display will appear as shown:

Input address word XX

- Press 0 and 1 buttons to select address word 01 "Engine electronics".

^ Display will appear as shown:

- Press Q button to enter input.

Read measurement block HELP
Input display group number XX

- Press --> button.
- Press 0 and 8 buttons to select Function 08: "Read measurement block".
- Press Q button to enter input.

^ Display will appear as shown:

NOTE: If any displays other than these appear, refer to chart.




- Select desired display group number corresponding to display group overview (see chart).
- Press Q button to enter display group number.

EXAMPLE: Display Group 01

- Press 0 and 1 buttons to select display group number 01.
- Press Q button to enter input.

NOTE:
- When function 08 "Read measurement block" is selected and display group numbers 01 to 05 are called up, the respective display group number is shown without the 0 in the display.

- When display group 00 is called up, the zeros do not appear. Only "Read measurement block" is shown on display.

- Measurements are displayed in physical values.

- Measurements are shown in decimal form.

- Press C button before selecting any additional display groups.
- Press --> button to end "Read measurement block" Function.
- Press 0 and 6 buttons to select Function 06: "End data transfer".
- Press Q button to enter input.
