Installation

***FOR INFORMATION NOT INCLUDE HERE, REFER TO TSB # 349210, DATED DECEMBER 31 1992, TSB # 349209, DATED DECEMBER 31 1992, AND TSB # 309304, DATED JUNE 15 1993***.

1. Installation of gearbox is in reverse order of removal.

NOTE: If gearbox is renewed, always transfer the gearbox shift lever.

2. Before installing the gearbox, press clutch release lever towards the gearbox housing and secure with a dowel pin or M8 x 22 screw. Remove after installation of gearbox.

3. Install plug in the bore.
4. Check for correct fit of cover when installing gearbox.
5. In vehicles with power steering, the bearing housing to gearbox carrier securing screws must be inserted in the bores of the bearing housing before installing gearbox.
6. Tighten gearbox carrier to engine and to bearing housing screws as follows:

a. Install screws
b. Tighten screws.
c. Swing in and raise engine/gearbox assembly alternately. In so doing, the right hand drive shaft must be guided in such a manner that it bears on flange shaft of gearbox.
d. Install engine/gearbox mounts without tension.

NOTE:
- To install left gearbox holder securing screw at body, engine holder pin and spindle of catching fixture (arrow) must be in line as well as possible.

- Remove catching fixture 3184 only after tightening left engine/gearbox holder bolts to specified tightening torque.

7. After replacing or reinstalling a transmission, redetermine thickness of shims "A" between mount and transmission housing.

NOTE: If the gap is smaller than 0.5 mm, do not use shims.
