Trunk / Liftgate: Adjustments



Rear Lid, Adjusting

Height adjustment
- Remove molded headliner from passenger compartment
- Remove rear lid gas struts







- Remove guide pins, right and left (arrow shows L for left and R for right).







- Loosen hex nuts - 1 - (do not remove hinge on rear roof beam).

NOTE: If hex nuts - 1 - are completely removed, it is absolutely necessary to prevent hex nuts or spacer plates - 2 - from falling into headliner.







- With second technician, position rear lid to match outer contour - arrows- and tighten hex nuts of hinges.

Tightening torque:
Hex nuts = 30 Nm

Guide pins, adjusting







- Remove guide trim - 1 - after removing Phillips screws - 2 - from both sides.







- Install left and right guide pins, note identification - arrow - (L for left side and R for right side) of rear lid.
- Install gas struts.







- Using a second technician, carefully close rear lid and observe from inside whether guide wedges - 1 - are pressed uniformly by the guide pins - 2 - approx. 10-15 mm (3/8 - 5/8 in.) in driving direction -arrow-.
- Make left and right adjustments by changing position of guide pin on rear lid and tighten guide pin Phillips screws.

Tightening torque:
Phillips screws = 8.0 Nm
