Checking Central Locking System



CHECKING CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM (VEHICLES WITH SLIDEING DOOR AND TAILGATE ONLY).

Required for troubleshooting:
- Multimeter Fluke 83
- Connector Test Kit VW1594
- Valid wiring diagram

Before starting troubleshooting, battery negative terminal (-) must be securely tighted.

Prerequisite:
- 552 Fuse 10 (15A) located on multiple fuse-adapter, below fuse/relay-panel OK !
- Supply voltage (battery-voltage) OK !


CAUTION!
DO NOT damage, enlarge or bend connector terminals or cavities by forcing probes into them when performing electrical checks. Always use connector test kit VW 1594 to make the necessary electrical connections.



After repairing malfunction, check function of central locking system.

Checking central locking, driver's door


NOTE: In the event of a central locking system malfunction on the front doors, first remove both front door trim panels to allow access to both front door central locking system switches and wiring. As all central locking switches interact with one another test steps should be performed for both sides, even if only one side is malfunctioning.

















Checking central locking, passenger's door


NOTE: In the event of a central locking system malfunction on the front doors, first remove both front door trim panels to allow access to both front door central locking system switches and wiring. As all central locking switches interact with one another test steps should be performed for both sides, even if only one side is malfunctioning.

















Checking central locking, sliding door


NOTE: In the event of a central locking system malfunction on the sliding door first remove both front door from panels to allow access to both front door central locking system switches and wiring. As all central locking switches interact with one another ensure proper central locking function of the driver's and passenger's doors before proceeding with troubleshooting. Check and repair these first if necessary.


Preparation:
- Check for proper mechanical function of all contact switches within Right Rear Side/Sliding Door Contact Switch (F7). Switches must be free from corrosion, work freely and return to their end positions.












Checking central locking, tailgate


NOTE: In the event of a central locking system malfunction on the tailgate, first remove both front door trim panels to allow access to both front door central locking system switches and wiring. As all central locking switches interact with one another ensure proper central locking function of the driver's, passenger's and sliding door before proceeding with troubleshooting. Check and repair these first if necessary.
