Glow Plug System: Testing and Inspection

Glow Plug System, Checking

Requirements
- Engine cold
- Battery Voltage OK
- Voltage at glow plugs. If no voltage, see wiring diagram

Amperage supply, checking using VAG 1315A
- Connect current supply to VAG 1315A tester
- Place glow plug wire in inductive pickup
- Press button for current measurement
- Glow, start engine and let idle
- During the extended glow period (approx. 120 seconds), record current draw with engine running
- Current draw approx. 50 Amps: Glow plugs OK
- Current draw below 50 A, check glow plugs Testing and Inspection
