Front Stabilizer
Special Tools and Equipment
^ VAG1331 torque wrench
^ VAG1332/5 open-end spanner insert (34 mm)
Removing
^ Remove front wheels.
^ Relieve torsion bar.
^ Unbolt both shock absorbers from control arm and completely slide upward.
^ Remove coupling rods from lower control arm.
^ Unbolt tie rods from steering gear.

^ Remove front exhaust pipe.
Vehicles with reinforced stabilizer 27 mm
^ Unbolt bolt for universal joint at steering pinion and remove steering gear from steering column.
^ Unbolt steering gear from subframe.
Continuation for all vehicles
^ Unscrew clamp for stabilizer from subframe.
^ Turn stabilizer upward by approximately 90° and pull out toward left at the same time. Observe right coupling rod when removing stabilizer.
Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal.
Notes:
^ Make sure the surface is not damaged when installing the stabilizer. Repair paint damage if necessary and protect against corrosion using underbody sealer.
^ Coupling rods remain on stabilizer during removal and installation.
