Parking Lock







Component Notes And Information

NOTE:
^ During service procedures, refer to the illustration above and the information below.
^ Multi-Function Transmission (TR) Switch -F125- and Vehicle Speed Sensor -G68- can be tested in the vehicle by On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Testing and Inspection
^ The output gear must be removed to disassemble and assemble the parking lock refer to Removing and installing drive pinion. Service and Repair

1 Circlip
- Always replace
2 Washer
3 Detent lever shaft
- Is secured by circlip and bearing cap of drive pinion
- According to version with groove for circlip
4 Return spring
- Installing refer to Fig. 4 below.
5 Detent lever
- Installing with return spring refer to Fig. 4 below.
6 Parking lock gear
- Rounded side faces teeth of drive pinion
7 Bolt
- Tighten to: 14 Nm (10 ft lb)
8 Supporting plate
- Installing refer to Fig. 3 below.
9 Guide plate
- Install before supporting plate refer to Fig. 3 below.
10 Vehicle Speed Sensor -G68-
- Can be tested in the vehicle by On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Testing and Inspection
11 Bolt
- Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
12 O-ring
- Always replace
13 Bolt
- Tighten to: 15 Nm (11 ft lb)
- With sealing ring
- Always replace
14 Transmission housing
15 Bolt
- Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
16 Lever
- For selector shaft
17 O-ring
- Pry out with screwdriver
- Drive in flush with VW 423
18 Selector shaft with selector segment and detent segment
- Install together with engaging lever
- Removing and installing refer to Fig. 2 below.
19 Engaging lever
- Install together with selector shaft and detent segment
20 Spring pin
- Drive in after installing engaging lever refer to Fig. 1 below.
- Drive out with drift
21 Locking washer
- Removing and installing refer to Fig. 2 below.
22 Bolt
- Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
23 Manual selector valve control
- Adjusting refer to Removing and installing valve body. Service and Repair
24 Bolt
- Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
25 Spring for selector segment
26 Bolt
- Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft [b)
27 Bolt
- Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
28 Bracket
- For Multi-Function TR Switch -F125-
29 Multi-Function Transmission (TR) Switch -F125-
To remove:
- Remove insulation tray
- Pull connector off and place oil tray under transmission
- When installing ensure connector is correctly sealed
- After installing top up ATF. Testing and Inspection
- Install so that 1 pin each is resting on a slope of detent segment
- Can be tested in the vehicle by On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Testing and Inspection
30 O-ring
- Always replace
31 O-ring
- Always replace
32 Transmission Vehicle Speed Sensor -G38-
- Can be tested in the vehicle by On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Testing and Inspection
33 Bolt
- Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)

Procedures

Driving Out
- Drive engaging lever spring pin out only far enough to remove selector shaft.

CAUTION: Engaging lever spring pin may drop into planetary gearbox.

Driving In
- Drive in spring pin flush after installing selector shaft and engaging lever.

- Remove bolt -arrow- and take out locking washer.

NOTES:
^ The locking washer is placed into the groove of the selector shaft and secures the shaft from dropping out.
^ The selector shaft can be removed or installed after taking out the spring -A- for the selector segment.
