About Trouble Codes

NOTE:
- All the possible malfunctions which are recognized by the Transmission Control Module (TCM)-J217-and displayed and printed out by the VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) are listed below grouped according to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) number.
- If malfunction occurs only occasionally or if the DTC Memory was not erased after connecting the malfunctions, these malfunctions will be displayed as "sporadic malfunctions" for a stipulated period of time >> Transmission Control Module (TCM) recognition of malfunction.
- If faulty components are found, test the wiring to the components for short circuits and open circuits according to the wiring diagram.
- For "Open circuit" malfunctions, check first for contact corrosion or water contamination and if necessary replace. With solenoid malfunctions, check the 10 pin connector at the transmission between the valve body conductor strip and the wiring harness.
- The malfunction code is printed out in the "rapid data transfer" mode only when the printer of VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) is turned on. Example: Diagnostic Trouble Code (5-position) 65535
