Checking Rear Window Wiper/Washer System
Required for troubleshooting:
- Connector Test Kit VW1594
- Electrical Circuit Tester VW1466
- Valid wiring diagram
Before starting troubleshooting, battery negative terminal (-) must be securely tighted.
Prerequisite:
- S4 Fuse 4 (15A), located on fuse/relay-panel, OK !
- Rear window wiper in end position
CAUTION!
DO NOT damage, enlarge or bend connector terminals or cavities by forcing probes into them when performing electrical checks. Always use connector test kit VW 1594 to make the necessary electrical connections.
Preparation:
- Remove cover from the relay panel
- Remove Rear Window Wisher/Washer Relay J30 (Production Control No 174) from relay-panel, location 2
- Insert test adapter VW1466/3 into relay-panel, location 2
- Connect VW1466 to test adapter
Troubleshooting procedure:
- Perform test steps according to table below.
- If specified value/test result is obtained, proceed to next step (test result OK)
- If specified value/test result is not obtained, use table for trouble shooting and repair
- Use valid wiring diagram for wire testing
- Disconnect test leads after each step
If malfunction has not been eliminated after performing all steps, replace Rear Window Wisher/Washer Relay J30 !
After repairing malfunction, please perform functional test Rear Window Wisher/Washer System.
