Fuel Injection System Section Overview
I - Engine Control Module, Oxygen sensor, Engine Coolant Temperature sensor and Engine Speed sensor

I - Engine Control Module, Oxygen sensor, Engine Coolant Temperature sensor and Engine Speed sensor
1 - ECM harness connector
- Only disconnect or connect with ignition switched off
- Unlatch to disconnect
2 - ECM mounting screws
3 - Engine Control Module - J220-*
- Location: engine compartment, left of battery
- For Fuel injection and Ignition system, Throttle Valve Control Module, Oxygen control, knock control, EVAP canister purge regulator valve, speed governing via injectors or fuel pump relay and On Board Diagnostic
- If replaced, perform Basic setting
4 - Oxygen sensor (after cat) -G108-*
- 50 Nm (37 ft lb)
- Location: in catalyst
- Grease threads with G5; do NOT allow G5 to enter slots
- Sensor heating Voltage supply via fuel pump relay J17
5 - Heated Oxygen sensor (before cat) -G39-
- 50 Nm (37 ft lb)
- Location: in catalyst
- Grease threads with G5; do NOT allow G5 to enter sensor slots
- Sensor heating Voltage supply via fuel pump relay -J17-
6 - Engine Coolant Temperature sensor -G62-*
- Blue, 2- pin
- Release cooling system pressure before removing (if necessary)
7 - Retaining clip
- Ensure it is securely seated
8 - Thermostat housing
9 - O-ring
- Replace if damaged
10 - Connector
11 - 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
12 - Engine Speed sensor -G28-
- Location: cyl. block by intake
13 - 3-pin harness connector
- White
- For Engine Speed sensor
14 - 4-pin harness connector
- Black
- Mounted to sub-frame
- For Oxygen sensor and Oxygen sensor heating (before cat)
15 - 4-pin harness connector
- Brown
- For Oxygen sensor and Oxygen sensor heater (after cat)
II - Intake manifold assembly, disassembly and assembly
1 - 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
2 - High tension cable guide
3 - Vacuum hose
- From Secondary Air Injection solenoid valve
4 - Tee piece
5 - Vacuum hose
6 - Test connection plug
7 - Fuel pressure regulator
8 - O-ring
- Replace if damaged
- Oil lightly before installing
9 - Retaining clip
- Ensure it is seated securely
10 - Fuel pressure regulator bracket
11 - Fuel return line
- Secure with spring-type clips
- Ensure it is securely seated
- Blue
- To fuel delivery unit in fuel tank
12 - Fuel supply line
- Secure with spring-type clips
- Ensure it is securely seated
- Black
- From fuel filter
13 - Fuel supply line
14 - Banjo bolt, 15 Nm (10 ft lb)
15 - Oil seal
- Always replace
16 - 2-pin harness connector
- Black
- For fuel injectors: -N30-, -N33-, -N83-, -N84-
17 - O-ring
- Replace
- Oil lightly before installing

- Remove from lower intake manifold using 3047A tool

- For fuel injectors

21 - Left rear support
- Between intake manifold and cylinder head
22 - Lower intake manifold gasket
- Replace
- Note installed position
23 - Lower intake manifold
24 - Dowel sleeve
- Ensure it is securely seated
25 - Intake manifold gasket
- Replace
- Note installed position
26 - Intake manifold
27 - Retainer
- For Secondary Air Injection pump motor:
28 - Hose connection
- Mounted to lower intake manifold
29 - Connecting hose
30 - Right rear support
- Between intake manifold and cylinder head
III - Throttle Valve Control Module, removing/installing
1 - 8-pin harness connector
- Black
- For Throttle Valve Control Module -J338-
- Only disconnect/connect with ignition switched off
2 - M8: 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
M6: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
3 - Throttle Valve Control Module -J338-
- Components: Throttle Position Actuator -V60- Throttle Position sensor -G88-, Throttle Position sensor -G69- and Closed Throttle Position switch -F60-
- Heated by engine coolant
- If Throttle Valve Control Module is replaced, perform "Basic setting".

- Diagram applies to both Engine Coolant Temperature sensor -G62- and Intake Air Temperature sensor -G72-
- Scale A shows resistance values for temperature range 0 to 50 °C, scale B shows values for temp range 50 to 100 °C.
Examples:
- 30 °C corresponds to a resistance between 1500 and 2000 Ohms
- 80 °C corresponds to a resistance between 275 and 375 Ohms
IV - Air Cleaner, Mass Air Flow sensor and Positive Crankcase Ventilation heating element, removing/installing

- Replace if damaged
5 - Intake hose
- Ensure it is seated tightly
- To Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor -V101-:
6 - 4-pin harness connector
- Black
- For Mass Air Flow sensor -G70-
7 - Mass Air Flow sensor -G70-*
8 - Intake hose
- Ensure it is tightly seated
9 - Vacuum hose
- To junction piece for EGR valve/intake manifold
10 - Positive Crankcase Ventilation Heater Element -N79-
- For PCV valve
- Arrow on heater element points toward intake hose
- Resistance specification at ambient temperature (approx. 25 °C): 7 to 12 Ohms
11 - Positive Crankcase Vent valve
- Arrow on crankcase breather valve points to intake hose
- From cylinder head
12 - Connecting hose
13 - 2-pin harness connector
- Black
- For heater element -N79-
- Check heater element Voltage supply between terminals 1 and 2, with ignition switched ON: 11.5 Volts minimum
