Measuring Main Pressure


- Before checking main pressure, check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory and, if necessary, correct any electrical malfunctions, refer to Checking Diagnostic Trouble Code Memory.





- Remove bolt for main pressure hole -arrow-.
Always replace bolt at main pressure hole.
- Connect VAG 1702 pressure gauge and tighten knurled screw.
- Bleed VAG 1702 pressure gauge line by loosening knurled screw with engine running.

NOTE: Tighten knurled screw after bleeding.

- Bring automatic transmission fluid (ATF) temperature to 60°C (140°F).
- Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool and read temperature in measuring value block, refer to Measuring Value Block.





- Main pressure specified values (refer to table above).

NOTE: If possible, perform main pressure test on a chassis dynamometer.





- If deviations from specified value occur, cause could be: (refer to table above).
